Invasive Species Work Day Carney Nadeau School Forest
Invasive Species:
Starting in 2013 the Menominee Conservation District has been working in coordination with the UPRC&D Council to map and plan a course of action to control Phragmites in Menominee County.  If you know of a patch-either large or small- please contact us so that we can map it into our program. A common problem is identifying native vs. non-native phragmites.  The following link is a great resource, and includes photos to help you with identification:

Your Conservation District is working with the Upper Peninsula Resource Conservation and Development Council (RC&D), Wild Rivers Invasive Species Coalition and other concerned groups to "get a handle on" the plant species that are non native and invasive.

Utilizing funding from an RC&D Grant and the efforts of concerned volunteers, Menominee CD will focus on the following invasive plant species: Phragmities; Purple Loosestrife; Spotted Knapweed; Buckthorn (common and glossy); Autumn Olive; Japanese Knotweed; and Wild Parsnip.
